Copyright and takedowns
WUD hosts things its members upload: reels, photographs from set, self-tape auditions, script sides and credits. If something on WUD infringes your copyright, this page is how you tell us, and what we do about it.
Sending a takedown notice
Send a written notice to WUD’s designated agent, below. To be effective under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)) it has to include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- What work you say is infringed. If several, a list of them.
- What you say is infringing and where to find it on WUD — a link or enough detail that we can locate it.
- How to reach you: address, telephone number, and email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and — under penalty of perjury — that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
A notice missing these may not be acted on. Deliberately misrepresenting that something is infringing can make you liable for damages under § 512(f).

What we do when we get one
We remove or disable what the notice identifies, and tell the member who posted it what was removed and why. Members who repeatedly infringe have their accounts closed.
If your work was removed and you think that was wrong
Send a counter-notice to the same agent, including:
- Your signature.
- What was removed and where it used to be.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed through mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district — or, if you are outside the United States, for the district where WUD is located — and that you will accept service from the person who complained.
We pass your counter-notice to whoever complained. If they do not go to court within 10 to 14 business days, we may put the material back.
